I can't believe this is a candle! Isn't it amazing?

More accurately, it's a Primitive Whatnot, from Kountry Lights Candles, and it's made from an old chalk mold.

Here's their description

What have you been burning lately?

I'm talking candles of course!

It's finally getting a little cooler here, so I am burning more candles.

Lately I've been burning a Sweets Scents Candles platinum tin in Cookie Jar that I've had for about 2 years (I think I have 8 left out of however many I bought).

The whole house smells yummy when I'm burning the candle, and even a day after I blew the candle the house still smelled like fresh cookies.

Of course everyone who comes in the house is looking for the cookies....it's such a shame when I have to tell there aren't any.

Unfortunately Sweet Scents seems to be going through a site redesign, so I'm not sure that you can actually order now :-(

Ewe-Nique Country

I saw Ewe-Nique Country at a local craft mall, and I knew I just had to tell you about them.

You know the mark of a great candle company, right?

It's when you're in a room full of candles, and everyone is smelling yours.

There weren't many people in the store that day, but there were several different brands of candles, and while no one was at the other displays, there was one woman patiently sniffing all the Ewe-Nique Country candles, trying to determine which scent to take home.

She even asked me if I'd tried them before, but unfortunately, I hadn't.

If you like a rustic look, you'll love Ewe-Nique's 26 oz Apothecary jars. And if you want something a little different the 16 oz paint can candle definitely fits that description. (I don't remember seeing this in the display I saw...if I did I probably would have had to buy it. It's so cute!)

If you're worried about added ingredients in your candles, according to their website, Ewe-Nique Country candles don't contain colors, or dyes - so they are all a neutral white, or a pale cream color.

Most of the candles I saw were a beautiful cream color.

I don't really think that this is my thing (although I might go for themini cheesecake or donut tarts) but I think this is a great idea, and the detail is amazing.

Where else can you find hand carved wooden shoes with intricate flowers carved on the heels?

The Hibiscus shoes are absolutely breath taking, and I love the way that you can see through the heels!

I do wish that they would show how the shoe looks from the back, so that you can see the design on the back of the heel.

I ran across this while I was looking at ... well I've been looking so long I don't remember. It was something cool though.

I absolutely love the amoeba glass earrings and necklaces (you can find them under "glass") maybe it's the biology geek in me...maybe it's just that they are really cool.

Of course the blue and green amoeba earrings are my fave...why is it that my fave's are always sold out?

This is my favorite kids outfit ever! Although I'm not a mom, I know a lot of mom's are scared to dress their kids in white - ok, I'm still scared to wear white myself, so it would be great if it came in another color.

The knit bags are pretty nifty too (yeah, I know, but it's sooo much fun) but if you want to know a secret...I clicked on the purple and blue bag on page 2, then I clicked through to the person who made the bags website - it's ModernKniterature by the way...and they were selling the same bag for a lower price.

But don't tell anyone.

It's our little secret.

I did notice that some of the links weren't clickable on certain pages...which made me think that I was going crazy for a few minutes, but other than that I didn't have any problems on the site.

A Planet 4 Creation

I found A Planet 4 Creation via the Happily Handmade Giveaway!

I got the most gorgeous pair of handmade sterling silver earings with 4 mm Sworovski crystals that flash violet in one light and blue in the other ... I know all of this because it was conveniently printed on the back of the card the earrings came on!

These earrings are absolutely adorable - unfortunately I have very sensitive ears, and I could not wear the earrings for more than an hour. Of course, that's normal for me, unfortunately.

So if anyone wants some beautiful earrings that were only worn once leave a comment -isn't that kind of gross though. Used earrings, what fun.

I really wish that I could wear the earrings - they were so beautiful. You would love them.

A Planet 4 Creation does have other great jewelry. The Heart Chain is absolutely adorable, as is the Hummingbird Necklace and Earring Set.

The earrings that I got came were wrapped in purple tissue paper, and lying in a beautiful purple box - a great way to present the earrings.

Bead For Life

I read about Bead for Life in the May 2006 issue of Family Circle.

I was really impressed by the history of the organization, and by the beads themselves! Who would have imagined that so many different, beautiful things could be made by rolling up pages of magazines!

Although Bead for Life does sell products on the website, it also sells products through BeadWear parties, school fund raisers, and community fairs.

All profits from the sale go to the Kampala beading community, which actually makes the beads in Uganda.

These soaps are absolutely adorable!

How much fun would it be to wake up and see a beautiful rubber duckie floating on an ocean of soap?

Of course if you're not into cute, you could always ask them if they could use one of Jean Claude's Tub Toys. Is it just me, or do those eyes freak you out!

Back on topic - I also think the Fortune Cookie soaps are adorable as well. I love the bright, see through colors, and the fact that you get to choose your scent.

There are so many amazing things at Longlocks that I don't even know where to start.

There are so many hairsticks, in a variety of designs, that there is something that's perfect for almost anyone. There are even chapstix for the man in your life who is brave enough to wear hairstics.
I think my favorites now are the Tanzanite Twist hairsticks

The only bad thing about the site is that the new designs usually sell before I see them :-(

I have been lusting over the Glow Away Flash Cube since I first saw it months ago.

I'm not exactly when I'd wear it, or how I'd use it...but just to have a glow in the dark eyeshadow would be so cool! Of course it's out of stock now, so no order for me :-(

I'm also intrigued by the Kaleidoscope Collection. The colors in the collection change depending on the light, and the angle of the light, so you get three different shades with each shadow, depending on which angle the you're looking at.

These would be great shadows to give a little extra sparkle with your favorite little black dress.I think Mirage (turquoise, blue, violet) and Illusion (silver-green, silver-red, green-gold) are my favorites.

If you're intrigued by mineral cosmetics, you prefer a matte shadow, instead of a shimmery one, be sure to check out the Silk Matte Collection.

I love that Pure Luxe offers samples of almost everything - a lip wand sample in a jar is only $1.25, while eyeshadow/liner samples are $1.00 for 1/8 tsp. in a jar - so it makes it easy to sample colors that you aren't sure you'll like, or that you aren't sure you'll wear more than once (hello Mirage) it also allows you to get an idea of whether or not the skincare line will work with your skin as well.

Although I didn't find a shipping chart, shipping seems to be fairly reasonable, ranging from $5 to $8 on an order of $64.50.

Pure Luxe is also having a sale as I write this, but I'm not sure how long it will last.

I can't decide if I love or hate this site.

I absolutely adore this Sweety Cakes Cupcake Ring, but of course they don't have my size.

Ah the horror of having size 5 fingers.

The lolly rings are cute too, I love the whimiscal designs, and the variety of colors...but to walk around with a dainty cupcake on your finger...now that would be the life!
